NAMES IN THE NEWS : Ex-Rep. Chappell Has Cancer

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Former U.S. Rep. Bill Chappell, defeated last year after 20 years in Congress, announced today that he is being treated for bone cancer.
“I want all my friends to know I’m feeling fine and plan to see them back in the district soon,” Chappell, 67, said in a news release issued by the law offices of Coble and Barkin in Daytona Beach. The Florida Democrat was admitted to the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center in Bethesda, Md., on Feb. 23 by the National Cancer Institute and is in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
