Councilman Nate Holden has been endorsed by Gerald Silver, president of the Encino Homeowners Assn., and Lew Snow, president of the Lake View Terrace Homeowners Assn. Holden was also endorsed by two groups opposing light-rail proposals in the San Fernando Valley--the West Sector Transit Coalition and East Sector Transit Coalition. In addition, Holden was endorsed by Pat Owens, a candidate for the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees; Dan M. Carasso, a private investigator and member of the state Republican Committee, and Susan Transky, of the Valley-based Seniors for Political Action.

Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky in the 5th District has been endorsed by 25 homeowner association presidents, including the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn., Sherman Oaks Property Owners, Valley Village Homeowners Assn. and Studio City Residents Assn.
Fifth District candidates Laura Lake and Ryan Snyder will be featured at 7:30 p.m. today at the monthly meeting of the Westside, Westwood and Beverlywood / Cheviot Democratic Clubs, Westside Pavilion Shopping Center, Third Floor Community Room, Pico and Westwood boulevards. Jim McGrath will be sit in for his brother, write-in candidate Jack McGrath.
Jack McGrath will sing and dance tonight at his pre-St. Patrick’s Day fund-raiser at the Hollywood Palladium. Senior citizens will dance to the tune of $25, students $50 and the general public $250.
Lyle Hall, a candidate in the 7th District, will celebrate the grand opening of his campaign office at 7 p.m. today, 13903 Foothill Blvd., Sylmar.
The Rev. Jules Bagneris III, an African Methodist Episcopal minister opposing 7th District Councilman Ernani Bernardi, will open his campaign headquarters in the San Fernando Valley on Saturday at 9722 Woodman Ave., Arleta.
BALLOT MEASURES
Supporters of Proposition 2, a $176-million bond issue for improved police facilities, plan a 10 a.m. news conference today at the Los Angeles Police Department 911 Communications Center, 4th floor sub-level of City Hall East.
