Commercial Scene : Pierside Work Starts in Huntington Beach
Ground was broken Friday on Pierside Pavilion, a $23-million, four-level retail and entertainment project across Pacific Coast Highway from the pier in downtown Huntington Beach.
Developed by a joint venture of California Resorts International Inc. and Haseko (California) Inc., the nearly 90,000-square-foot development is scheduled for completion in June, 1990.
Pierside Pavilion and Huntington Pier Colony, an adjacent project with 130 condominiums, will cover two city blocks on Pacific Coast Highway, bordered by Main Street, Second Street and Walnut Avenue.
Pierside Pavilion was designed by Solberg & Lowe Inc., Santa Monica, and will include nearly 31,000 square feet of retail and food-court space, 9,000 square feet of restaurant space, a six-screen cinema and nearly 16,000 square feet of office space on the third and fourth floors.
The contractor is Keller Construction Inc., El Monte and the landscape architect is Lawrence Reed Moline Ltd., Culver City.
