Ground was broken Friday on Pierside Pavilion, a $23-million, four-level retail and entertainment project across Pacific Coast Highway from the pier in downtown Huntington Beach.

Developed by a joint venture of California Resorts International Inc. and Haseko (California) Inc., the nearly 90,000-square-foot development is scheduled for completion in June, 1990.

Pierside Pavilion and Huntington Pier Colony, an adjacent project with 130 condominiums, will cover two city blocks on Pacific Coast Highway, bordered by Main Street, Second Street and Walnut Avenue.
