The World : IRA ‘Hit List’ Uncovered
Security authorities have uncovered an Irish Republican Army hit list of public figures in Britain, police in London said, but they declined to disclose the identities of the suspected targets. British news reports said that heading the list, found last December in a London house used as an IRA bomb factory, is the name of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who escaped an IRA bomb attack in 1984. The list also contained the names of about 200 politicians, judges and army officers. A police official said, “each individual named has been given suitable security advice.†Police found a large quantity of Semtex plastic explosive in the house and are looking for two suspected IRA guerrillas believed linked to the bomb factory.
