Local News in Brief : More Victims Sought in Molestation Case
El Monte police said Wednesday they are seeking additional children who may have been molested by a music teacher.
Juan Carlos Barrientos, 38, was arrested last month after six children between the ages of 8 and 11 said “unusual activities†took place during guitar lessons at Barrientos’ home between October and December of 1988, Detective Robert Elkins said.
Barrientos pleaded not guilty Monday to 16 counts of child molestation and is being held at Los Angeles Central Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
One of the possible victims went to police in late February to report an alleged molestation and also identified five other children who took lessons from Barrientos.
