Jazz Festival to Debut in May

In what promoters hope will become an annual event, the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa will host a Pacific Jazz Festival May 20 and 21.
The May 20 bill will feature Hiroshima, Lee Ritenour, the Rippingtons, Shadowfax, Hugh Masekela, Pete Escovedo, Richard Elliot and Kim Pensyl. The May 21 lineup includes the Robert Cray Band, performing with the Memphis Horns; David Benoit, Etta James, Mongo Santamaria, Freeflight, the Louis Bellson Big Band, Billy Mitchell and Bennie Wallace. Performances will run from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. each day. Tickets, at $33, $27.50 and $19.50, are available through Teletron, (714) 634-1300.
