KNX-FM Changes Format, Call Letters
As of noon Thursday, Los Angeles had yet another oldies-but-goodies radio station in KODJ-FM (93.1)--formerly ratings-beleaguered KNX-FM.
“We had a lot of hopes for the old format, but the (ratings) numbers just didn’t come in,†explained station promotion director Nicole Sandler.
KNX-FM disappeared from the dial once before six years ago, reemerging as KKHR-FM with a Top-40 format. It returned to the KNX call letters and an adult-contemporary format in 1986. During its brief resurrection, KNX-FM never climbed out of the Arbitron ratings cellar.
The only immediate staff changes involve the addition of former KRTH-FM (101.1) morning drive-time personality Dean Goss, who will take over the 5-9 a.m. slot on KODJ, and deejay J. Rose, who will take over the late-night (9 p.m.-1 a.m.) show.
