Roundup : Fullerton Defeats Saddleback in Orange Empire Softball

Kristin Jacobs pitched a three-hitter as Fullerton College’s softball team defeated Saddleback, 1-0, Wednesday in the Orange Empire Conference opener for both schools at Fullerton.
Jacobs (8-4) struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter.
Tammy Rodriguez led off the ninth with an infield single. She went to second on a passed ball and was sacrificed to third.
Rodriguez then scored on a squeeze bunt by Kelly Hilliard.
In other Orange Empire Conference play:
Rancho Santiago 7, Orange Coast 1--Natalie Sanchez threw a two-hitter for Rancho Santiago (8-5, 1-0) at Orange. Sanchez (8-4) struck out two and walked one. She allowed only a fifth-inning run. The Dons took the lead in the third with three runs. Kim Wolf had a two-run single in the inning. Heather Illsley had two hits and scored three runs and Judy Padialla had three hits and one RBI for the Dons.
Golden West 2, Riverside 0-- Golden West scored single runs in the second and the seventh at Riverside. Tammie Flores (3-3) gave up only two hits for Golden West (7-4 overall, 1-0 in conference). Riverside is 0-1 in conference.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s swimming:
Cypress 80, Saddleback 50--Sami Teofilo and Laurel Strother each won two events to lead the Chargers (2-0 in conference) at home. Teofilo won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.65 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 2:03.39. Strother won the 50 backstroke in 33.40 and 100 backstroke in 1:12.46. Saddleback is 1-1 in conference play.
