Californians want to continue voting separately for governor and lieutenant governor, rather than as a party ticket, according to a new California Poll. In the three most recent statewide elections, the winning candidates for the two posts belonged to different parties. Legislation to allow the governor and lieutenant governor to run together has been introduced in Sacramento. But 56% of those polled by the Field Institute said they want to maintain the current system. Thirty-seven percent favored a change, and 7% had no opinion.
