The Board of Supervisors agreed to name a new 1.4-acre park in unincorporated Midway City after Supervisor Roger R. Stanton.
The park, located in Stanton’s 1st District, was built in 1987 on land acquired by the county from Southern California Edison, Co. The recommendation to name the park in Stanton’s honor came from the Midway City Chamber of Commerce and Homeowner’s Assn. The park--bounded by Bolsa Avenue and Riata, Purdy and Washington streets--includes a 4,000-square-foot community center where programs involving hot meals for senior citizens and day care for young children are operated.
