Notre Dame tailback Tony Brooks has been arrested in a hit-and-run accident and for driving with a suspended license, police in South Bend, Ind., said.

Brooks, from Tulsa, Okla., was arrested on the Notre Dame campus shortly after noon Sunday, about nine hours after the accident was reported. He was not held.

The accident, in which no one was injured, occurred on a city street when a car driven by Kevin T. Coleman, 39, of South Bend, was sideswiped as a car traveling ahead of him attempted a U-turn and then fled the scene.

Later, Brooks reportedly admitted to being involved in the accident. The accident occurred in front of Memorial Hospital, where Brooks’ teammate, linebacker Michael Stonebreaker, is recovering from injuries suffered in a car accident.
