Vrdolyak Files for Chicago GOP Primary

CHICAGO — Democrat-turned-Republican Edward R. Vrdolyak officially filed Thursday as a write-in candidate in next week’s Republican primary for mayor.
Vrdolyak, the former Cook County Democratic leader who became a Republican after being defeated in the 1987 race for mayor by the late Harold Washington, filed a declaration of intent to run as a write-in candidate one day before the deadline.
