A subsidiary of Santa Ana-based Microsemi Corp. has acquired a semiconductor products company in Peabody, Mass., for $3.9 million in cash and notes. Salem Scientific, a Microsemi subsidiary in Beverly, Mass., purchased Sertech Labs, a unit of Avnet Microtechnology. Sertech manufactures computer microchips for the defense industry. Microsemi said that Sertech’s operations will be relocated from Peabody to Salem Scientific’s facility in Beverly. Microsemi is a manufacturer of microchips and related products for the defense, telecommunications, computer and medical industries.
