Security at Huntington Beach High School has been beefed up after a young man exposed himself to two girls in a school restroom in the past two weeks, authorities said.

The girls were unharmed in both incidents.

Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ed McErlain said the first incident occurred on Feb. 2 when a young man came out of a restroom stall, exposed himself to a 14-year-old student and then grabbed her in a bear hug. The girl broke away and escaped. The second incident occurred on Feb. 10, when a man fitting the same description exposed himself to a 16-year-old girl, who also escaped unharmed, McErlain said.

An 18-year-old student later said she had seen a man coming out of a restroom stall about 10 minutes before the second incident. The student fled and the man did not expose himself, McErlain said.

All three incidents took place in a restroom near Worthy Park on the school’s south side.

School authorities have asked students to take a companion when they use the restroom when classes are in session.

Police do not believe the suspect is a student at the school.

The culprit was described as a Latino male, 17 to 20 years old, 5 feet 7 inches, with a medium build, brown hair and a mustache.
