Federal District Judge Harold H. Greene in Washington has blocked random drug testing at the Interior Department, calling the sweeping program a case of “bureaucracy run amok” and a “show” that has little to do with fighting drug abuse. Greene granted an injunction sought by the National Federation of Federal Employees and the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of 17,000 Interior workers. Random drug testing at the department was to have begun today.
