CS Long Beach to Play UC Irvine

The Cal State Long Beach men’s basketball team will try to snap a 2-game losing streak tonight at 7:30 in the university gym against UC Irvine, a team that has given up an average of 90 points a game and is 1-7 on the road.
Long Beach, coming off a 53-52 loss to UC Santa Barbara Thursday night, is 7-10 overall and 4-4 in the Big West Conference. Center John Hatten has been the 49ers’ high scorer in 10 of their last 11 games, and has scored more than 20 points in the last 3 games.
Irvine, which lost, 90-69, at New Mexico State Thursday night, is 6-10 and 3-4. The Anteaters’ top scorers are Kevin Floyd, averaging 17.4 points a game, and Rod Palmer, averaging 16.2.
