Outfielder Dan Gladden and pitcher Keith Atherton agreed to 1-year contracts with the Minnesota Twins, and four other players also agreed to 1-year deals, reducing the number of players in arbitration to 79.
Gladden and the Twins settled at $610,000, a raise of $250,000. Atherton and the Twins agreed to $450,000, a raise of $105,000.
Right-hander Andy McGaffigan and the Montreal Expos settled at $632,500, a raise of $132,500. Outfielder Jim Eisenreich and the Kansas City Royals settled at $120,000, a $30,000 raise.
Two catchers also reached agreements, Darren Daulton with the Philadelphia Phillies for $165,000, a $50,000 raise, and Jeff Reed with the Cincinnati Reds for $175,000, an $85,000 raise.
