Suspect Extradited in Task Force Case
A Coos Bay, Ore., man was extradited to San Diego on Friday in connection with the attempted murder of a Chula Vista woman, authorities said.
An investigation by the San Diego Metropolitan Homicide Task Force led to the arrest Wednesday of Glesty Donald Waters, 35, a mechanic. Waters lived for several years in National City before moving two years ago to Coos Bay.
Sheriff’s deputies said Waters allegedly assaulted Helen Ruth Toy on Jan. 6, strangling her to the point of unconsciousness. Toy was released from the hospital the day of the incident.
Waters’ bail has been set at $300,000. He was expected to be booked into County Jail Friday. Sgt. Liz Foster said Waters is being held on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and kidnaping.
