No cheers for Jon Mullich’s Jan. 21 letter, in which he blasts critic Dan Sullivan and his Broadway articles while also stabbing at The Times’ Equity Waiver coverage.

First of all, many L.A. residents travel to New York each year and take in some theater; this alone justifies Sullivan’s articles.

Second, I have never seen such complete coverage of small theater in a major newspaper: Stage Beat; pieces by Sylvie Drake, Janice Arkatov and others; year-end wrap-ups, the Openings listing, the Weekend Guide and Sunday Calendar’s massive theater listings and Critics’ Choice. Equity Waiver is well represented in all of the above.
