Hall and Double Standards
In Calendar’s Jan. 18 Morning Report, the NAACP charges Hall was “insultingly” remiss in not hiring enough blacks for his show.
Hall maintains the NAACP should not try to tell him how to do his job. In the same breath he states that he has initiated a “minority intern program.” I am aware of this program because his company has contacted our department about it.
Hall’s spokesman specified black students be sent. When I made the announcement to my classes I omitted the black requirement. I do not encourage my students to apply for any restricted internship.
It would be appropriate for Hall to apply the same criteria to his intern program as to the NAACP.
