Inglewood police arrested a man suspected of firing several shots at an off-duty officer who allegedly saw the man retrieve a handgun from bushes near the Manchester Boulevard on-ramp to the San Diego Freeway on Monday night, authorities said.
After the plainclothes officer identified himself, the man fired four or five shots at him and fled on foot, police said. The officer did not fire any shots for fear of hitting innocent bystanders, investigators said. No one was injured.
Police dogs found the man, whose identity was not immediately available, hiding in bushes. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and held without bail.
