Ameritech’s net income rose 4% to $1.24 billion for fiscal 1988. Revenue rose 3.7% to $9.9 billion. The Chicago-based parent of Bell companies serving Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, Ameritech said results benefited from an increase in customer lines, improved calling volumes and an increase in cellular lines. Fourth-quarter earnings fell 3.9% to $309.7 million due to higher expenses and the absence of divested operations.
