Charges against a sheriff’s deputy accused of molesting his 13-year-old daughter were dismissed Tuesday.
Van McClung, 33, of Chula Vista, had been charged with three counts of molesting the girl from 1982 to 1988.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Cathy Stephenson said a Juvenile Court judge ruled in a hearing on the fitness of the home that there was not enough evidence that any molestation took place. Based on that finding, San Diego Superior Court Judge Herbert Exarhos dismissed the charges.
McClung has been suspended from the Sheriff’s Department since he was charged April 7.
