About a dozen real-life nuns showed up at the Charles Street Playhouse in Boston to audition for the musical “Nunsense,†a gentle spoof of convent life. One wore sequins. Another, in full Carmelite habit and veil, sat center stage and played spoons to a bluegrass tune. The five nuns judged most talented will be given cameo roles in the show for one week. Two dollars from every ticket sold will be donated to a charity. One auditioning sister said that participating in a professional musical will show young women “we’re not just behind the walls doing our work. There is joy.â€
