Local News in Brief : Santa Clarita Driver Held After Shooting
A tailgating incident erupted into violence on the Antelope Valley Freeway Friday night when a Santa Clarita man allegedly shot at another motorist, authorities said.
William McLaughlin, 19, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after Charles Chiaramonte, 27, of Lancaster jotted down his license plate number, said Detta Roberts, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy.
Chiaramonte was not hurt, but the window on the driver’s side of the pickup was shattered. The incident began in the Acton area when McLaughlin tailgated Chiaramonte’s truck, authorities said.
When Chiaramonte applied his brakes, McLaughlin pulled in front, braked sharply and allegedly shot at Chiaramonte, Roberts said.
