High School Soccer : Agoura Girls Set Record With 30th Win in a Row
The Agoura High girls’ soccer team set a Southern Section record Friday with its 30th consecutive win as the Chargers crushed Calabasas, 9-0, in a Frontier League match at Agoura.
Agoura (15-0, 3-0 in league play), the Southern Section 2-A Division champion the past 3 years, has not been held to a tie since the middle of last season and is unbeaten in 66 consecutive matches.
Heidi Walters and Vanessa Martin each scored 2 goals to lead Friday’s assault.
BOYS
Agoura 4, Calabasas 0--The Chargers, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section 1-A Division, scored 3 second-half goals to break open a close Frontier League match at Agoura. The win was Agoura’s 11th in a row.
Four players--Dominic Zapata, Eric Pratts, Matt Freedman and Tim Ward--scored for the Chargers (12-2-1, 3-0).
Chaminade 3, Bell-Jeff 1--Goals by Brady Mitchell, Jorge Chavez and Greg Baumgartner lifted the Eagles in a San Fernando Valley League match.
Simi Valley 3, Camarillo 1--Brian Weaver scored 2 first-half goals as the host Pioneers (16-2, 4-0) remained undefeated in Marmonte League play.
Harvard 2, La Salle 0--Alex Woodhead scored 28 seconds into the San Fernando Valley League match and Marty Holly added a first-half goal as the Saracens improved to 6-7, 2-1.
Channel Islands 1, Royal 0--The Raiders scored 26 minutes into the Marmonte League match at Channel Islands and prevailed despite being outshot, 20-4.
Hart 1, Muir 1--Rich Schwein scored with 15 minutes to play, allowing Muir (5-0-1) to remain unbeaten in the Foothill League.
