Local News in Brief : Countywide : Black History Festival Seeks Food Booths

The Orange County Black Historical Commission is looking for nonprofit groups that want to sponsor food booths at the 10th Annual Black History Parade and Unity Festival Feb. 4 in Santa Ana.

The festival will feature entertainment, including a gospel music show. It will begin at noon at Eddie West Field. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and end at the stadium.

Organizations interested in sponsoring food booths should apply by Jan. 23 by calling Belem Padilla at (714) 647-6559 or Charlie Shaw at (714) 966-5042.

The commission also is sponsoring the Miss Black Orange County pageant, which will begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Santa Ana City Hall Annex auditorium.

Contestants must be residents of Orange County, between 17 and 24 years old, high school graduates and single with no children. Anyone interested in entering should call Carolyn Jimerson at (714) 647-6552 or (714) 768-0953.
