Local News in Brief : Reiner Warns About Roofing Rip-Offs

Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner warned Thursday that the recent rainfall and the winter season will probably result in an increase in roofing repair scams.
Reiner issued his warning in the wake of the arrest earlier this week of Al Tom Nelson, 36, of Temple City, for allegedly bilking a Monrovia man out of $700 by spraying commercial roofing tar diluted with gasoline on the man’s roof.
Nelson pleaded innocent in Monrovia Municipal Court on Wednesday to one count of grand theft and remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail.
