Pasadena-based Beverly Enterprises Inc. has agreed to sell its 20 Massachusetts nursing homes to GHM Inc. of East Hartford, Conn. The transaction, involving 1,797 beds, for $47.25 million includes 1,446 beds that are owned in 16 homes and 351 beds that are leased in four homes. The sale is subject to the approval of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Public Health’s division of health-care quality. Beverly Chairman Robert Van Tuyle said the move is part of the company’s restructuring, which was announced last spring. He said the sale to GHM is scheduled to close this spring.
