The chairman of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee has appointed Kurt Sjoberg as the new acting auditor general to replace Thomas W. Hayes, who was sworn in as state treasurer Friday. Sjoberg, who was chief deputy auditor general under Hayes, is “extremely qualified” for the post, said Assemblyman Bruce Bronzan (D-Fresno). He said Sjoberg would manage the office of auditor general “in the same professional nonpartisan manner as his predecessor.”
