Douty’s Free Throw Seals Irvine Victory

Dana Douty made a free throw in the final seconds to help the UC Irvine women’s basketball team hold off Western Illinois, 55-51, Saturday at the Bren Center.
The Anteaters led, 54-51, when Western Illinois’ Tanya Giovanetti missed a 3-point attempt. Douty was the fouled and hit the first of a 1-and-1 free throw attempt.
Natasha Parks scored 21 points and had 16 rebounds to lead Irvine (3-7), and freshman Kathy Lizarraga added 10 points.
