Terrorism and the Crash of Flight 103

The potential danger to airline passengers and crews the world over need new and innovative measures to help lessen the potential loss of life from terrorists. As a frequent flier both here and abroad, I know that new measures of creating safety are imperative.

One simple means of achieving this is to allow only one small carry-on piece of baggage for each passenger, with all other luggage being transported by baggage airliners. Without immediate luggage inspections, the scrutiny of passengers and small handbags could be more thorough, and since no baggage would be on any passenger plane, the rewards for planting an explosive device would be greatly limited. The logistics to see that baggage and passengers arrive at the same destination at approximately the same time would require major adjustments, but such problems can be overcome.
