Sales of California farm products staged a major recovery in 1987, reaching a level of $15.6 billion, the state Department of Food and Agriculture reported. Milk and dairy products remained the top money earner, although their sales of $2.09 billion were almost unchanged from 1986. The department’s annual report on agricultural sales showed that Fresno County kept its position as California’s No. 1 food producer, with gross farm product sales worth $2.27 billion. Tulare, Kern, Monterey, Riverside, Merced, Stanislaus, Imperial and San Joaquin counties followed.
