San Ysidro
Police were asking for public assistance Monday in their search for a hit-and-run driver who struck and seriously injured an off-duty U. S. Customs agent last Tuesday.
Rodney Bruce Evans was walking west on the north curb in the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard about 12:30 p.m. when he was hit in front of Roberto’s Taco Shop by a westbound vehicle.
Sketchy witnesses’ accounts suggest the vehicle was an older, small- to medium-size pickup truck, either brown or tan, possibly with blue California license plates. The pickup was driven by a man with short dark hair.
Witnesses are asked to contact Detective Jim Yeatts at 531-2197 during business hours or to call 235-TIPS after business hours if they wish to remain anonymous. A reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
