Local News in Brief : CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR’S CLOSINGS

MAIL: All post offices will be closed Monday and Jan. 2, and no mail will be delivered.
BANKS: Most banks and savings and loans will close Monday and Jan. 2.
SCHOOLS: Most of Orange County’s public elementary, junior high and high schools will be closed until Jan. 3, with the following exceptions: Fullerton and La Habra elementary schools and Fullerton High School will reopen Jan. 4; the Newport-Mesa Unified School District will be closed Monday through Jan. 9.
TRASH: Garbage will not be collected Monday or Jan. 2. In the week after Christmas and New Year’s, trash pickup will be delayed one day. In Fullerton, residents are asked to put out their trash on the regular day in the event that collectors catch up.
GOVERNMENT: All county, state and federal offices will be closed Monday and Jan. 2, as will most city offices. City offices in Buena Park, Cypress, Garden Grove, Irvine, Placentia, San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ana and Stanton will also be closed today. Stanton city offices will be closed Dec. 30 as well. Fullerton city offices will be closed Monday through Jan. 2.
