CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati announced today that it has hired Charles F. (Rick) Taylor, Boston University’s athletics director since 1984, as Cincinnati’s new director of athletics.
The appointment of Taylor, 47, a former college football coach, is effective immediately. At Cincinnati, Taylor faces a major challenge of hiring a football coach to replace Dave Currey, who resigned, and rebuilding an athletic program recently punished for violating NCAA regulations in the men’s basketball and football programs.
“It has no place to go but up. The people I’ve talked to are enthused,” Taylor said of Cincinnati’s program.
