A new program was launched Tuesday to help Pasadena residents who cannot pay their utility bills because of temporary financial problems.
Called Project APPLE (Assisting Pasadena People with Limited Emergencies), the program will be funded through voluntary contributions of the business community, utility customers, city employees and the Citizens Energy Corp.
In announcing APPLE, Michael Kennedy, chairman of Citizens Energy and son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, said low-cost energy is essential for people who are down and out.
