Bob Stull, credited with reviving Texas El Paso’s dismal football program in 3 seasons, was hired by the Missouri, which has had 5 straight losing seasons.
Stull, 43, was given a 5-year contract at a base salary of $85,000 a year.
Stull replaces Woody Widenhofer, who was pressured into resigning last month after a 12-31-1 record at Missouri.
Stull took over at UTEP after the 1985 season, during which the Miners were 1-10 under Bill Young. After 4-8 and 7-4 records his first 2 years, Stull led UTEP to a 10-2 record, the best in the school’s history, and a berth in the Independence Bowl against Southern Mississippi this year. The Miners also set a school scoring mark of 35 points a game in 1988.
