Local News in Brief : Pelletier New Mayor in Westlake Village

Franklin D. Pelletier has been selected by fellow council members to succeed Berniece E. Bennett as mayor of Westlake Village.
The mayoral position rotates among council members each year. Pelletier was mayor pro tem before the council held its reorganization session Wednesday night.
“Some of the most demanding issues we have seen on the City Council” will come up in 1989, said Pelletier, an attorney.
For example, the council is expected to consider the proposed Westlake North development on 131 acres northeast of Lindero Canyon Road and the Ventura Freeway. The developer wants to build 400 apartments and 1.5 million square feet of office and retail space on the property.
