Funeral Services Set for Moorpark Player
Funeral services for Kaylon Whaley, a former player on the Moorpark College football team, are scheduled for today at Antioch Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Whaley, 23, died Thursday night after his motor scooter collided with a car on Los Angeles Avenue near Nogales Avenue in Moorpark, said Lt. Richard Rodriguez of the Moorpark Police Dept.
Juan Antonio Gaytan, 28, of Simi Valley was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of felony hit and run in connection with the accident, Rodriguez said.
Whaley was a 5-foot, 11-inch, 201-pound sophomore defensive end. He left the team after a Nov. 12 game against Ventura partly because of lack of playing time. “He did not leave the team with any hard feelings,†Moorpark Coach Jim Bittner said.
