First Flu Cases of New Season Reported

ATLANTA — Federal health officials have reported the first confirmed influenza cases of the 1988-89 flu season in Ohio, Arizona, Hawaii, Michigan and Texas.
The flu season in the United States occurs during the cold-weather months, and the first official outbreak of the season was reported in Ohio, the national Centers for Disease Control said last week.
