A Feminine ‘Dundee’ Makes Robbers Flee

JACKSON, Tenn. — A convenience store robbery was foiled when the clerk pulled out a bigger knife than her assailant’s, police said.
“She was just like Crocodile Dundee,” police Capt. Richard Higgins said, comparing the clerk, Aleshia Melton, to the Australian movie hero who frightened off a mugger by displaying a large knife.
The robbery attempt occurred Monday, when two men came into the store while Melton was on duty alone. One of them brandished a knife and demanded money, police said.
The man with the knife threatened to cut Melton, but she pulled out a foot-long machete and both men fled, Higgins said. A suspect was arrested near the store.
