A 35-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning when fire raced through her second-story apartment, officials said.
An Orange County coroner’s deputy identified the victim as Teresa McCabe, who apparently died of smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out at about 6:40 a.m. in the El Dorado Apartments, 1120 N. Placentia Ave. Firefighters had it under control by 7:05 a.m.
The fire was concentrated in the living room and appeared to have been smoldering for a long time, Fullerton Fire Department spokeswoman Joy Brown said.
The victim’s body was discovered on the bedroom floor of the apartment. Police said she lived alone.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation, but police said it appeared to be accidental. The fire caused $25,000 in damage, but no other apartments were affected.
