An incendiary device caused an explosion and fire in the garage of a Woodland Hills apartment complex early Monday, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The 12:07 a.m. explosion in a 1-story, detached garage shattered windows in the nearby Lombardi Apartments complex in the 5600 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard but did not injure anyone, authorities said.
About 30 firefighters were called to the scene and extinguished the blaze in the garage in about 20 minutes. Fire department officials declined to disclose what type of device touched off the blast and said the incident was under investigation. Damages were estimated at $75,000 to the garage and $5,000 to property inside it, officials said.
