Dan Quayle Bashing
Now we can relax because the “Richard Nixon Seal of Approval” has been bestowed on Quayle (Part I, Nov. 22).
How can we forget that it was Nixon who: 1) maintained an “enemies list” that included many prominent, as well as ordinary, American citizens; 2) condoned the burglary of the Democratic headquarters in the Watergate Hotel and Daniel Ellsberg’s doctor’s office; 3) used the IRS as leverage against his political enemies; 4) obstructed justice by conspiring to cover-up his unlawful actions; 5) gave us Spiro Agnew; 6) on national television, with a straight face, lied to the American public, and 7) has made a fortune peddling his memoirs and appearing on talk shows.
Why is this thug still in the news? Why does the media continue to give this man credibility by giving him attention?
For sure, Quayle hasn’t given us any reason to believe that Nixon’s proclamation that “Dan Quayle is not an intellectual midget” is not just another lie! And besides, who cares what Nixon thinks.
