Lebanese Family Asks for W. German Asylum

LINDAU, West Germany — A Lebanese couple with nine children asked for asylum in West Germany after police found them trudging along an expressway like “marching geese,†a police spokesman said Friday.
The couple paid $2,250 to be smuggled from Beirut to the Austrian-West German border where they slipped into Bavaria illegally, he said.
Authorities are considering the couple’s request for asylum, he added.
