LONDON — Two empty railroad locomotives rolled off an elevated track Friday and fell 50 feet onto one of London’s busiest highway junctions.
The two 107-ton diesel engines partly blocked the cloverleaf junction connecting the M1, London’s main northbound exit, to the North Circular Road, the capital’s inner beltway.
The roads were deserted when the predawn crash occurred, and there were no injuries or damaged vehicles, police said. They said it may be several days before the junction is reopened.
