An agreement has been reached between leaders of AIDS support groups and television producers concerning the plot of a controversial episode of the NBC series “Midnight Caller,” which depicts a bisexual man knowingly spreading the AIDS virus. The San Francisco-based AIDS Foundation and producers from Lorimar Productions confirmed late Wednesday night that they will be working together to “ensure an accurate and responsible depiction of the AIDS problem,” according to the producers. Foundation spokesman Rene Durazzo said that producers also agreed to consult with organizers during the post-production phase and will consider possibly reshooting part of the episode. The episode had been the center of controversy and protests in San Francisco for several days. In one incident filming was interrupted by several hundred demonstrators.
