A physician testified in federal court at Memphis, Tenn., that he collected money from Memphis State boosters and gave it to former basketball coach Dana Kirk for him to pass along to his players. Dr. Oakley Jordan said he gave Kirk some $10,500 between 1981 and 1985. The cash, Jordan said, was to help underprivileged athletes.
