Cal State Long Beach will take the longest football losing streak in school history into its homecoming game against Cal State Fullerton tonight at 6 at Veterans Stadium.
The 49ers, who have lost 9 straight games over 2 seasons, are 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the Big West Conference. The Titans are 2-4 and 2-1.
Long Beach is coming off its best game of the season, a 31-24 loss at Utah State. Quarterback Jeff Graham completed 33 of 48 passes against the Aggies for 3 touchdowns and a career-high 422 yards.
“We finally moved the ball like we’re capable (of doing),” 49er Coach Larry Reisbig said. “If we play like (that), we’re definitely going to win some games.”
The 49ers are allowing an average of 37 points a game, 13 more than Fullerton.
The Titans are led by quarterback Dan Speltz, who was 11 of 29 for 122 yards with 2 interceptions and 1 touchdown in a 23-10 loss to Fresno State last week.
